Life Before Balloon Sinuplasty™

Transcript

“Before the procedure, I didn’t experience a lot of pain, per say, but just uncomfortable. Had difficulty breathing, especially at night. My nasal passageways would swell shut, so I would be very agitated throughout the night and crabby the next day, specially in the mornings until about noon. Just really felt, pretty bad. One time I was at a meeting with a room full of parents and I could not breathe through my nose and I could not blow my nose in the meeting because I knew that didn’t work, and I made noises breathing. So I found that I would have a tendency to hold my breath or try to breathe as much as I could through my mouth without drawing attention to myself, and it would cause embarrassment. I’ve had a variety of experiences with the other treatments that I’ve tried, with the different allergy medications initially when I would try a new one I would be very excited that this was finally going to be the cure and I was going to feel good. And initially, I would feel a little better. Generally, the side effects…I’d be very susceptible to the medication in a way that it would always make me drowsy. I was always tired with the different allergy medications, even the non-drowsy formulas. It seemed to just zap me and my energy and I think it was because I still wasn’t sleeping very well at night. That was a big struggle. Sometimes the nasal sprays would work, sometimes they wouldn’t. I would use one that seemed to give me immediate relief but then many house later I would feel even worse than I did before. So, never found the miracle drug that really helped me feel like I wanted to feel, so I would be disappointed after the different treatment options. I was feeling miserable many days, one day after another this summer, and I was looking through a local magazine and I saw a half page ad that said are you tired from suffering from sinus and allergy problems? And I said ‘yes!’ So I picked up the phone and I called that day and scheduled the appointment.”

Balloon Sinuplasty™ Procedure

“During the procedure, I felt generally comfortable. I felt some pressure, and I could hear a crackling noise at times. If I were to compare this to a dental procedure, I would probably compare it about the same. That type of situation doesn’t make me very nervous or uncomfortable, nor did this one.”

Life After Balloon Sinuplasty™

Transcript

“After the procedure, I am feeling now like I’m more able to wake up in the morning and get up and get moving quickly, and exercise and not have to wait around a couple of hours to feel better. And I also recently went back to work after 14 years part-time, working at an elementary school. I used to be a full-time teacher, so now re-entering the work force. And I’m rested and ready to take on the day, whereas prior to the procedure I was not feeling like I could handle that at this point in my life. So, everything is good now, mornings are good! My quality of life has drastically improved, if you would ask my husband he would also share that same sentiment. He says he enjoys waking up in the middle of the night now just to watch me breathe, because I’m breathing peacefully and I’m sleeping. I’m not waking up many times during the night or waking him up many times during the night with my inability to breathe. So, we’re all feeling much better. When mom’s happy everyone’s happy! I would definitely recommend this procedure to anyone who’s suffering with chronic sinus issues and allergies, it’s life changing. It’s really important to be able to breathe like normal people breathe, and know that you can function during all times of the day and sleep during the night and wake up ready each morning to take on a new day! It made a big difference in my life.”
